"I THOUGHT it was incredible," V8 Supercars driver Mark Winterbottom said of his recent visit to the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi."It's world class. Visually, it's the most impressive place I've ever seen," he said. "It's got this marina there with multimillion-dollar boats around it, hotels at the track and then the track itself. We got to drive around in Porsches and two-seater F1 cars and got to experience the track at high speed, and it's got everything. It's an incredible place. What it does is it provides opportunities you will never get in Australia."Winterbottom was recently among a small group of V8 drivers who travelled to the capital of the United Arab Emirates to promote the fact that for the first time V8 Supercars will be starting its season racing under lights at the new Yas Marina track. The V8s will also be the first to use a section of the Yas Marina Circuit called the Corkscrew: a high-speed, off-camber left, right, left turn sequence which drops 15 metres in elevation over 100m. It is a track where just having the most grunt won't necessarily win you the race."There's enough corners to make a better handling car quicker than just horsepower," Winterbottom said.
