Shell Cove 'as Big As Kiama'

EXPRESSIONS of interest are being called today to build the $80 million boat harbour and marina project at the centre of Shell Cove, a development expected to rival the size of nearby Kiama.

Developers have decided to bring forward work on an expanded harbour precinct including shops, restaurants, a hotel and 1000 dwellings which will be constructed over the next four years in conjunction with the marina.

Shellharbour City Council general manager Brian Weir, who has been at the forefront of the project's planning over the past two decades, said Shell Cove would eventually be home to between 10,000 and 12,000 people.
